You don’t need to have a prescription or visit a pharmacy to get your hands on discreet THC pills – just make them at home!

THC pills are the cannabis community’s innovative take on medicating with medical marijuana. Sure, the classic toking methods of yesteryear remain ever prevalent. Still, we’re not here to debate the staying power of the popular joint or the possibility of eating delicious weed edibles.

No. Today, we’re here to talk about THC pills, a healthier and more discreet way of medicating with your favourite gorgeous green.

We will cover what THC pills are, their benefits, and how to make them for yourself at home.

That said, let’s get into it!

THC Pills and Capsules? What are They?

Hooti Extracts THC Capsules

Also known as weed pills and THC capsules, THC pills typically consist of a cannabis concentrate mixed with vegetable oil before being encapsulated in a gelatin capsule. THC is not easily water-soluble, meaning that it doesn’t mix well with water.

Thus, the need for the presence of a lipid or a fat.

THC pills come in a variety of concentrations, ratios, and even microdoses. They’re mostly available in 5mg, 10mg, and 25mg doses, with some even offering the addition of CBD.

Unlike other kinds of weed edibles, THC pills can easily be made at home with store-bought tinctures and cannabis oil, or through flower, kief, and any decarboxylated bud that you have on hand.

What are the Benefits?

Compared to smoking marijuana, THC pills don’t require you to damage your lungs with carcinogenic smoke making them a healthier, safer way of medicating with cannabis. Additionally, THC pills won’t have the unnecessary addition of sugar, calories, or carbs that often accompany edibles.

If you have diabetes or are watching your weight, you’ll come to appreciate how these THC capsules won’t spike your blood sugar or cause you to pack on the pounds.

They’re also more precise.

Just like a cannabis tincture, each capsule will give you your exact desired dose without any fancy bells or whistles. Their precise nature makes THC pills ideal for those who need an accurate cannabinoid dose for their meditative regimes.

Prefer non-psychoactive CBD? THC pills are how they’re described in name only – cannabis capsules have got you covered if you’re looking for simple relief.

THC pills are also more desirable than simply smoking regular dry flower cannabis as is because of the added potency that digesting it does for weed. When THC is ingested, it’s converted into another compound known as 11-OH-THC, also known as 11 hydroxy THC, which is magnitudes stronger than THC on its own.

11 Hydroxy THC is one of the reasons why edibles are so effective for treating and relieving various medical ailments.

So, what this means is that eating your THC pills instead of smoking your flower can actually get you higher.

So, if you’re somebody who:

  • Limit or control their caloric intake;
  • Wants to control their THC dosages accurately and precisely;
  • Medicates with THC without smoking, vaping, or eating calorie-dense edibles;
  • Wants a more potent high
  • All of the above

You should consider giving THC pills a chance! Unlike edibles or vapes, THC pills are something that you can make easily at home with just a few household appliances that you likely already have.

Here are 2 of the easiest ways to get medicating with cannabis pills!

How to Make THC Pills

With AVB (Already Vaped Bud)

how to make thc pills

Want to make the switch over from smoking your weed to eating it instead? Well, you’ll have an easier go at it since the easiest way to make cannabis pills is by merely putting cannabis inside a gelatin capsule!

This fact is the perfect opportunity for a disclaimer eating raw cannabis will not get you high. You won’t get many (if any) of the benefits that you would from smoking, vaping, or eating edibles.

The secret behind your favourite icky sticky’s psychoactive effects, potency, and benefits lie in its decarboxylation, which is pretty much just a fancy way to say that your cannabis is “activated.”

Without “activating” your weed, it won’t be able to get you high. It’s as simple as that.

Usually, weed is decarboxylated through the heat of a joint’s cherry, a bong’s bowl, or a vape’s atomizer. Since we’re trying to avoid ingesting smoke or vapour, you’re going to have to decarboxylate your weed with our oven.

But if you’re a vape smoker who’s been saving your already vaped bud (AVB), we can skip that step entirely!

Weed that’s been “used up” in a vape is already good to go, so all you have to do is pack your THC capsules yourself and reap all the benefits that medical marijuana can offer.

Don’t want to go through the trouble of packing your capsules with already vaped bud? Just eat it instead!

It’ll have the same effects, but it’ll just be slightly more inconvenient. However, that said, if you’re looking for a more flavourful option or looking to avoid taste altogether, eating AVB is likely not for you.

It’s an “acquired” taste, to say the least.

In other words, it doesn’t taste all that great. However it’ll get the job done if you’re in a pinch.

With Fresh Cannabis Flower

If your flower isn’t already decarboxylated at home, you’ll have to do it yourself. While it sounds like a scientific process, it’s actually pretty easy.

Here’s how you can make your own weed oil at home to fill your THC pills.

You’ll need the following:

  • Fresh cannabis
  • Your oil of choice (coconut, olive, MCT, canola, etc.)
  • Syringe
  • Cheesecloth or coffee filter
  • Gelatin Capsules
  • Mixing utensils and bowls
  • Parchment paper

Step 1) Decarboxylation

Take your fresh cannabis and give it a coarse grind to increase its surface area. Spread a sheet of parchment paper over your baking pan and preheat your oven to THC

Spread your ground cannabis over the parchment paper evenly, and pop it in the oven for approximately 35 to 40 minutes, or until lightly browned. Be sure to flip the buds halfway through to ensure full coverage and activation.

Step 2) Infusion

Take your preferred oil (e.g. olive, coconut, or MCT oils, for example) of choice and keep it at an extremely low simmer. When your oil is melted down/ heated up, toss in your decarboxylated weed and stir intermittently for at least an hour.

The longer you leave it in the oil over a low simmer, the more potent it’ll be.

A word of warning – if you leave it in for too long, the oil will turn black and become extremely bitter. We recommend pulling it off the heat after 3 hours.

Step 4) Capsulating

After you take your weed oil off of the stove, strain it through a cheesecloth or coffee filter before discarding the waste. Don’t push down on the weed oil dregs, as this will make your oil extraordinarily bitter and pungent.

Allow your strained oil to cool down before topping up your syringe and filling your capsules. Once filled, you can store your THC pills and THC oil in the fridge, where they’ll keep up to a few months, as long as the container is airtight and opaque.
